Project Key Activities

  • Procurement of fruit fly traps
  • Distribution to horticulture farmers

  • Monitoring and evaluation of fruit fly population
  • Collaboration with Ward Agricultural Officers to scale ALPP coverage

Project Key Outputs

  • 15,000 fruit fly traps procured and distributed
  • 4,650 farmers reached across 8 ALPP wards
  • Kako Waia: 1,908 traps distributed to 636 farmers
  • Kisau Kiteta: 744 traps distributed to 186 farmers
  • Additional 4,708 traps planned for 464 farmers in Kako Waia
  • Additional 2,292 traps planned for 573 farmers in Kisau Kiteta

Project Achievements

  • Successfully distributed 15,000 fruit fly traps to horticulture farmers for effective pest management
  • Kako Waia and Kisau Kiteta recorded the highest fruit fly populations as per the 2024/2025 preliminary monitoring report
  • Strengthened partnership between TradeMark Africa and ward agricultural offices for continued monitoring and ALPP implementation
